Cutting dump tube, okay idea???

I would not recommend it if you are still using the stock 2g bov. That was one of the first things I ever did to my car and it ran like shit. It made the stock bov leak and act erratic.

Cutting that tube would not do much to make it louder, it's to increase airflow.

If you just want it to be louder and still recirculate, then yes you need a different bov, but I don't know if a stock 1g valve is loud... The reason to upgrade is for performance or adjustability, not noise.

well I know that but I was told when you do this mod it increase air flow to maintain more pressure so that some of the boost that is lost and be compensated. It is supposed to increase a little bit

how did cutting the dumptube affect the bov? The dumptube does nothing but direct the released air back into the compressor, should have no affect whatso ever on how your bov operates. To OP yes you can cut it and jb weld the piece back in. As far as sound, some people say it gets louder but mine actually pretty much went silent until i got hard intake pipe and a new bov

id ditch the 2g bov and get a 1g there better and dont leak at over stock boost settings like the 2g bov.i ran my uncrushed 1g bov to 23 ps1 no problems.but they are not loud if you want loud get a vented unit and run a gm maf sensor

Ok it is a success I just took the car out for a spin and the spool isn't any louder BUT there is a louder release and satisfying LOL, Now I wonder I didn't cut it that short, if I were to cut more off the pipe would it allow more air to pass and have a more pressured release?????

I don't know how... that's what I was wondering at the time. But it did and the results were annoying. I bought a Greddy Type S and the problems went away.

I believe cutting my dump tube in the intake caused the stock valve to leak at idle.

I dont understand what the big deal is though, its just making the route for the air to travel shorter how can this result in a leak??

While on here now is there anyone that has either an aftermarket bov or even a 1g bov that would sell or donate to me :) thanks!
