cursed DSM

so i brought my car to a dsm shop yesterday to have them fix the freeze plug in the turbo... they fixed that and filled it with antifreeze and the freeze plug on the back of the block was popped as well... so they replaced that and got my coolant system squared away. after that they replaced a dry rotted line on my oil cooler and fixed my oil sending unit line. so they tried to start the car and it would run really well for about 5 seconds and shut off. he got the code from my flashing engine light and it gave him a code 12 (Airflow sensor) and a code 24 (Vehicle speed sensor) i figured that since my safc got stolen and the wires to it are just hanging right now but now the mechanic is trying to tell me that my ecu is fried... i wanna know how it could be if the car starts and gives out engine codes... i hope its not fried because its an eprom with a stage II tmo chip

Pull it out and check the caps.

a VSS malf. would still allow your car to run. (trust me, mine still doesn't work).
an airflow malf. could be a couple things. First would be to check for boost leaks. Then unplug the MAF and see if there is any difference.

i thought the VSS lowers idle to 750rpm and the car cant stay running because it cant keep up with the vaccum demand at that low of an rpm?

not to mention the fact that the TMO chip is supposed to delete the vss but the airflow sensor may be because my safc isnt there and the wires arent plugged in i thought the vss was the reason that my car wasnt running and the airflow would go away when i put in my new safc
