So I just installed a new Coolant Temp Sensor and I have High Idle, have to put it in clear flood mode for it to start, and vac is reading 23hg and it seems to be missing at high idle. No codes and all I did was replace a bad coolant senser that I had a code for, and it was running fine before! Normal idle, 19hg and sounded normal.

Make sure you got all of the air out the coolant system. Open the cap and squeeze the lower hose to burp the air out and then top it off. Another method is put a funnel in the thermostat housing opening and fill it until the fluid level is up into the funnel a little. Then start the car and let it idle and see if it sucks in some of the fluid from the funnel into the system.

Also make sure that the connections are nice and tight on the CTS itself. Those wires often get hard and brittle and can break easily.

Curious as to how the first part of that has to do with the High idle, high vacuum, and misses at said high idle? Unless I am missing something between the lines?

And I checked the wires and they are good and plug is on tight.

If there is air in your coolant system it can cause it to idle like you are describing. Since that's the only thing you changed, that would be the first thing I would check.

Do you have a logger or anything to see what your CTS is reading?

Alright I will check and see what I get, and yes running v3 and can maybe go catch a log real quick.

Just curious, how can an air bubble cause idle problems? Never really heard of it, not trying to challenge you, just asking for my knowledge!

I'm not sure exactly as to why, though I think it has to do with air bubbles getting trapped in the hoses by the TB/FIAV and thus causing poor idle. I have both read about it happening and experienced myself. That's something quick and easy to check.

V3 is perfect. What is the coolant temp reading compared to the outside temp (if the engine is cold) and is it warming up normally while idling?

Also you should be able to deduce a lot by looking at a stream as to what's causing your idle issues.

Come to find out one of the wires did break off I guess, must happened after installation cause I checked them to be sure. But i put spade connectors on the end and wired it up and works fine. The log shows normal temp, I'll post anyway, that way you can look at it and maybe find some other stuff! :sneaky:

Ok glad you got it fixed! Those wires are very prone to geting brittle and breaking. Glad you figured it out. I'm not at home right now so I can't look at your log but i'll try to check it out tomorrow.

Alright, the last time I had a problem similar to this I you said to rewire but they were fine but i guess under some tape there was some spots where it looked like it was tapped into and the wires were coming apart and I wiggled it a bit today and then noticed one wasnt even connected, so redid it and all is good. Thanks, either rply or send me a pm when you look at the log, I did some adjustments on a different log and need to apply them to my current tune and then retune for the FMIC, But I guess that can be discussed in another thread if need be!! Thanks again for the help!
