okay so i bought a wrecked eclipse awhile back and am just finishing it up. But i noticed the steering wheel sits crooked or sideways quite a bit. i've tried unbolting the steering column and bolting it back up but is still moves itself over to the side. what could this be from and how do i fix it? thanks for any help!

try maybe getting a wheel alignment done. Mine was that way after I pulled my tranny out (had to take suspension apart), and I'm getting it aligned next week along with new tires put on.

It could be a sign of damage to the chassis or misalignment. Do you know how badly the car was wrecked? Also, if you haven't already, align the car properly. Also, the steering wheel attaches to the column via splines, it could be off by a few splines so straight for the wheels means crooked for the steering wheel. Hope that gave you a few things to check out.

it wasn't wrecked to offal bad. it was a role over and the only suspension problem we found was a bent control arm. i planned on trying the alignment but i figured id see if there was anything i could do myself.

great day man hope everyones alright. on that note, the allignment tech will be able to tell you if he can allign it or not, and if he cant he will tell you what should be replaced. he can tell based on allignment angles, more than likely its just another part that needs to be replace as long as the wheel was strait before the wreck, i wouldnt mess with the steering wheel first i would try and get it alligned and make sure and let them know that you want a print out of the before and after angles. get the suspension in align first and then move on to the steering wheel. this will determine if you have any bent sus./steering parts
