Crazy Boost

so now all of a sudden my boost is crazy hi. i hit 20 psi today and yeah it was kinda crazy. it's fast but it feels like it's missing something but that doesn't matter. what matters is that i was tuned at 7 psi until about two days ago. so what's going on? any help?

Do you have a boost controller? Check to see if the line has been disconnected.

Are you on the stock 14b turbo or have you upgraded? Also check to make sure everything with the boost controller is hooked up correctly and as stated above that nothing got disconnected. It could very well be a case of boost creep also. These are just a few suggestions.

well i difn't upgrade and i haven't put an aftermarket bc yet but whats a boost creep?

Did you check the waste gate? It might not be working properly causing your wastegate not to open and your turbo to spool to higher levels than intended with your tune. Maybe the vacuum line on the actuator isn't connected? Did you check that yet to make sure it's working right?

whats a boost creep?

Boost creep is something alot of people see when they upgrade to a B16g or the evoIII16g What happens is your boost will be set at a lower setting say 14 for instance and once you start spooling it may hold 14 for a second or so then shoot up to 21psi. Alot of cures for this is to port out the o2 housing and around the waste gate flapper to allow the correct amount of flow. Some people who don't want to bother with porting just basically get the right amount of fuel mods and run at 21psi, or remove the internal wastegate and put on an external. This I don't think is your problem anymore since you are still running the stock 14b on your car. I am thinking that it could be a problem with your wastegate, or your wastegate arm. Check to make sure everything is connected as stated above and then if everything seems to be alright check the wastegate arm to see if it moves at all I have had one just stop working on me before and I had the symptoms you refer to. It was more like it would get stuck open sometimes and closed others.

ya i had that problem. the diaphram in my wastegate blew out.

im getting boost creep on my 16g right now it'll run 10 pounds til 4800 rpms then jump to 19 lbs i really don't mind it. i have her tuned for it

Just tonight i had my line going into my wastegate tear. My gauge I thought was broken and couldnt go past 10PSI, I was wrong it went to about 17 PSI and sounded like a jet engine turbine releasing pressure. I mean it was really loud and sounded really cool. I knew better and knew something was wrong though. I pull over and find a torn wastegate hose, luckily my hose was long enough to still go on there. Sounds like you may have the same thing. Check your wastegate hose, and your vac lines

yeah it was the vac line from the wastegate to the intercooler piping thanks for the help everyone
