right now i am saving up for the star stage II and then im planning on replacing the internals, but after looking around on howellautomotive.com for a while i think im just going to buy a whole new bottem end.
So the questions i have with this are:
1.will the 2.2 bottem end work with my 2.0 stock head
2. what is a stroker motor, i saw that it was only with the 2.2 bottem end, what i want to know is what is a stroker, i think it has something to do with the crankshaft but im not sure
3. what are the advantages of having a stroker motor when you have a turboed car, does it make the turbo spool faster? or something like that?

any help would be great!:D

The bottem end comes complete except the cylinder head which is a direct bolt on from the stock cylinder head. If you plan on going turbo I would recommend a port and polish for the extra air flow:dsm:

Stroker = more torque and slightly more hp due to the increase in the stroke of the internals. Larger displacement obviously.

Yes you can use your head on the motor. Nothing about the block etc is going to change. Howell modifies the crank for the larger stroke. Trust me I have this motor.

BTW you do NOT need to port and polish our heads. Everyone knows that HRC has made over 450-500hp with the stock valvetrain. IMO its not really worth the money to P&P.

Just a suggestion, but look into FasterThanYou .com about their stroker motors. If I had to do it all over again thats where I would go.

No problem. FTY has a stroker motor that is actually a little bigger than the Howell motor from what I hear. Howell seems to "round up" is the word that I hear on the street. Either way, I have felt a noticable difference, and have numbers on the dyno to prove that at the same level, I am producing a little more hp and torque than a 2.0L.

FTY has a stroker motor that is closer to an actual 2.2L. They also have a better non-modified crank, but I have NEVER heard of anyone breaking a stock or modified crank to warrant the cost/buying of the FTY crank. IF they will sell you a stroker motor without the crank they offer, I think that would be the way to go.

Howell, in my experience took MUCH longer to build my motor than advertised. I do not think that they were giving me the "runaround", but still it got a little frustrating after a while.

If you cannot acess FTY's site, then try VTengines.com. They are the same. FTY sells motors built by VT.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
