Alright here is my problem currently my stock passenger fender looks like this (see below)

so i was browsing for a replacement for my 99 eclipse and the best deal i found surprise surpise was on ebay. so the fenders i found were fiberglass F1 fenders specifically this auction. what i would like to know is if anyone has any experience with these fenders/ company Octane motorsports. Also how bolt on these fenders actually are and how much body/prep work is needed to get the gaps looking right. I would probably have this work done by a professional shop but if it is possible i would like to do all the prep work myself just for the experience and to save a little dough. If these fenders are not worth my time/money i would not mind spending a little more for a quality product if someone out there has a reccomendation for a better fender i am open to suggestions but i do like the F1 look. thanks alot

PS sorry if this has already been discussed. i tried searching but found pretty much nothing

the fenders more than likely come primered (didnt look at the link LOL) so you can just paint right ontop of that so no prep-work is really needed. Is this the only aftermarket piece on your car? I kinda like those fenders too, but they would look a little wierd if they were on a stock car in my opinion. But its your car, so do what you want :thumb:

i havent really done anything to it besides wheels/tires, eibach lowering springs and magnaflow cat back. the main reason i want these fenders is because when i looked em up a while ago it was cheaper to buy 2 of these than 1 oem looking fender. also i have no real planys to do any further body work to my car (i.e. body kit) i like the clean stock look that eclipses have and out of all the fenders besides oem these seem to be the cleanest flowing and best lookin IMO. if anyone has links to a 95-99 eclipse with F1 fenders on it to help me make a decision that would help immensly. also is there somewhere that i can get a oem looking fender for cheap if i do change my mind? thanks again :boring:

when your ordering body parts, it pays to get the more expensive stuff. My buddy got 2 fronts and a set of fenders from eBay before actually going VIS or Extreme Dimensions to get his stuff. The ebay stuff bolted in, but had gaps. The name brand stuff fit almost perfectly.

You could try going to autopartsland.com and seeing if the fenders they offer on there are over what you would be looking to spend. Or I would just go to a junk yard. You may even be able to find one the same color and just have to unbolt it. As for the F1 fender. I agree with IllIclipse on the fact that they may not look right on a stock body, but its you car and if you like the way it looks then don't listen to what anyone else has to say. They don't have to drive it.

I purchased these exact fenders. I live in California so I went directly to Octane Motorsports, where they let me buy them up for the Ebay price. They're a very good dealer. The fitment is great. I had them professionally installed, but they did not require much modification. They leave a very very slight gap between the hood and fender, which only I can notice. Also, you will want to sand down the front tip a little as it might rub on your front bumper. They don't come primered, so I had to sand them and then put some primer on them before taking them to the painter (I like to do my own prep work).Other than that you're good to go on these, unless your building a show car. I am very happy with them. I have pics but I am computer illiterate, so I'll see what I can do. If you have any other questions, let me know.

Vis yes, extreme dimensions stuff is garbage its all copys, fits like ass, you need to get your facts straight before you start giving people wrong advice. I have seen plenty of kits that came from extreme dimensions to know they fit like ass.

I've installed 8 kits on different cars from extreme dimensions, all of them fit good. I never post before getting my facts staight or having experience in the area..

most aftermarket body parts, including the ones extreme dimensions sells, usually need a little bit of work to make fit. Its just the way it is.

This is true, if your getting a body kit and expect it to be PERFECT... your dreaming. They all take some work... some more than others

i had the exact same style dent on my fender when I bought my car. If you attempt to install the fenders you may have some frame damage which is a pain to fix. It took me so long to bang and bend the frame to allow the new fender to bolt smoothly.

what frame? WTF

Probably part of the unibody or the rad support piece  Rad support can be changed cleanly, unibody damage is nasty.

I got my fender from a company I found on Ebay called Virtual Body Shop. They sent me a new driver side quarter panel *painted* and ready to go for $218 shipped. All I had to do was give them the details of the fender I needed and the paint code. There was a slight "wave" in the fender when it arrived, but we easily got it out. It fits pretty good too. I'd say I'm happy with it.
