I have a Galant Vr4 and the other day it just wouldnt start. It cranks and cranks but wont ignite. I changed the fuel filter 1st, no the problem, definatly getting fuel there. changed the spark plugs which were oil soaked, changed the ignition coil, transistor and CAS and it still will not start. I pulled the ECU thinking maybe it got fried and thats fine as well. Im sooo frustrated and lost and dont know where to go from here

Could possibly be the CTS (coolant temp sensor) There's been a lot of threads around lately about that since it's cold out. Also you should disconnect the hose to the fuel rail, put it in a bottle, and crank the car a little to make sure your fuel pump is working. And did you actually check to make sure you're getting spark? Just put a spark plug in the wires and crank the car over, you'll see it spark if they're ok, do this in every wire to make sure.

when i check the spark, the plug sparks like once or twice and then stops. why would that be?

Replace the coolant sensor. Do the spark plugs smell of gas? Replace the coolant sensor. Oil smell like gas? Replace the coolant sensor. Compression check? Replace the coolant sensor.

I wonder if my subliminal message will get through...

well as much as i wish u were all right, ## not. put the new coolant sensor in and still wont fire. It acts like it wants to but just wont light. both wires on the harness are exposed which isnt good obviously but they are still connected so it should still work, but im going to just cut the harness off for now and just put some new connectors on and put them right to the sensor

You might have fouled the plugs. Even when new, they can be done in under the right conditions. And what is the condition of your spark plug wires? If those are good, break out the multimeter and start checking your continuity between the wires in your ignition system using the schematics in your manual. You might have a bad harness/connection somewhere.

i cut the crappy harness off and put some connectors on and hooked them up right to the harness and after a good amount of cranking i finially got it started!!!!!!! so it was either the CTS or just the harness
The only thing that still bothers me is that it still has to crank awhile before it will fire. i wonder why this is

have checked everything that i can think of please help, my friends were tellin me the head gasket could be bad and im loosing compression, any ideas?

no its not your head gasket cause my n/t and my 91 talon awd did the same thing and i tested the injectors and it was letting them pulse only when it wanted to then they were speratic.....come to find out it was my caps in my ecu had popped so i changed them for like 5 bucks LOL and now both cars are fine
