umm isnt spec torque like 3lbs?

Yeah the the vavle cover cracked, maybe I am just unlucky. Two broke and I guess I will JB weld them to see if that stop it...

haha I cracked one corner of mine thanks to my g/f. I didnt have any JB Weld at the time but I had to do something since it was spraying out all over. I actually used that Black Silicone RTV Gasket sealer crap (Same crap I used when I put in a new VC Gasket)... That was like, almost a year ago? Worked like a charm, hasnt leaked since, I do have a new Shaved & Polished VC I've been slacking to put on though

I saw one on EBay go for about 140 bucks! it was crome lettering with all super polished black, but come on now. That much when you could get the regular powder coat (well done too) for like 50 or 60 bucks? Insanity...

PS - I <3 JB Weld

I think I got mine for around $75, either in the classifieds or ebay, I forget really. I was originally looking at some of the powdercoating ones or chromed ones, but most decent ones were just too expensive, and I really didnt want to deal with doing it myself, or having someone do it, so I just kept looking and I found this badass shaved and polished one. I dont mind having to re-polish or buff it up from time to time to keep it looking good.

When replacing my gaskets i cracked my valve cover, i covered the crack with atv... will these solve the problem or do i need to purchase a new valve cover? the crack was very small. please let me know what i should do. :(

i used jb weld on the out side and in the cracks and mine has held good i wouldnt use atv

Go to your local junkyard and snatch a valve cover from a 1g or 2g. I had a crack on my valve cover and I didn't want to take any risks by just fixing so I just took one off a 1g and it works great. They should cost like 10-15bux from the junkyard and then spray brake cleaner and you're set.

i broke the part that is on the inside, second bolt from the right... it is a small crack that is on the wall of the inside wall of the valve cover

darn, I had forgot I could check junkyards, either way when I changed mine it needed to be done quick so I opted for the dealer and paid 40-50 for bottom and middle peice, thats shop price btw, they were charging about 40 per peice. The middle peice was a bi*** to replace btw, I had to remove a stud for the motor mount to replace it correctly, the last person who did the job must have been and idiot and shouldve been shot for thinking it would be ok to crack the cover and slide the cover in.WTF WTF

ATV = All terrain vehicle (you know, those things you guys ride up in Jersey ova deah)
RTV = Maybe that silicone stuff on the valve cover?

hahaha yea didn't catch that one when i posted, i was in a rush because i was going out to dinner.

Ah, we're just giving you a hard time.

Besides, Bruce really didn't know what an ATV was!

LOL i shouldn't be laughing because i am sure i have interchanged those many times and people were wondering what the hell i was talking about. Now when i think of it, i am pretty sure i asked for "atv" at autozone, no wonder they had no idea what i wanted...

Now that's funny. :p :thumb:

i got this crack in my cover and thankfully i found this piece sitting in my head before some major damage was caused *phew. but anyways do you all think it would be ok to jb weld the bottom since there was a giant chunk missing? i'm just worried aoubt the weld falling off into the engine
