I put the fuel mods on the car, and the boost wont cap.
I have an electronic boost controller, and the ext gate has 2 nipples, one at the base, and one on the end.

I have the air line hooked to the Nipple at the base of the wastegate. even with the boost set at 0, it will not open the gate.

Perhaps I have the wrong nipple hooked up?

how is the wastegate going to open at 0 psi? what # spring do you have in your wastegate. that spring determines the minimum pressure needed to actuate the wastegate. hook the vac line directly to the wastegate, bypassing the boost controller and see what boost the wastegate will open at.

by setting it to 0, I mean the EBC. so it should restrict NO air.

its a Knockoff HKS, and a Blitz SBC ID III, that I had on my 3000gt vr4. so i know it works.

Did you try bypassing it just to make sure? That would be the first place I would start. I've had boost controllers fail before.

Here is a pic of the gate.

and The other pic is how the guy i got it from had it running.

So have you made any progress on this or what? It should be a pretty simple 10 minute deal to figure out what the problem is.

Ok, well, I hooked it up via the TIAL instructions, with both ports hooked up, and still nothing.

so, I took the feed line off the comp housing, and ran it directly to the nipple, and still nothing.

I guess its time for a new wg.
ebay here i come.
gotta find another 4bolt style.

I would check the spring before you scrap it. It could have a 30 psi spring in it and it wouldn't be opening at low boost pressure's. Or the spring could be broken and not allowing the valve to open.

all the ebay gates dont seem to have a vacuum nipple????

what is up with that?

do they not have one, no boost controller input

I think i found myproblem,

I feel so Newb.

I just got in from work, after a boring drive of watching the gauge so i dont overboost, and i think, HELL, ill just go under the hood, and see if there is any air comming out of the nipple on the compressor housing (that i am sourcing for the ebc from)

so i pull off the hose on the gate, and i feel nothing, I put the end of the hose in my mouth, feel nothing, reach over and rev the car, No AIR

so I am getting NO source pressure for the boost controller,

I am going to Tee off the BOV today and see what happends,

THe turbo was used, rebuilt, so the prev owner may have Sealed the Comp Nipple.
what a dirty trick

But shouldnt an External gate Open at the spring PSI no matter what.

ive read many mixed information on it, half claim it works like a internal gate setup, half go the other route. I guess we will see in about 15 minutes.

well, the Hoe still didnt work, but I just downloaded instructions and the boost controller has 2 setttings, AC and WG.

actuator and wastegate.
it has been set on actuator.

it needs to be on the WG for external, but should that make a difference?

OK, i figured it out,

On AC mode, the boost controller sends the pressure to the actuator, and pushes open the gate.

ON WG mode, It keeps presssure on both sides of the diaphram until its time to stop, then it drops the pressure on top of the diaphram and allows the pressure Under it, to push the spring up and open the gate.

Very good info, but a crappy site, http://www.turbosaturns.net/articles/wastegate101.htm
@@@@@

dang, the diaphram is blown though.

with one nipple connected, i can feel is pulling vaccuum through the other nipple,
