ok so a couple times since i have gotten my car, and ran it hard, it has started to leak what i think is coolant in puddles under my car? I dont know what could be wrong... my guess is the cooling system is messed up. Can anyone tell me how to check my fans, my water pump and all other cooling accessories? Thanks

It sounds to me like you have a leak in some hoses. I would pressure test the system. Check all hoses, for cracks, or loose clamps, and bloated hoses, if the hoses start to bloat under pressure they are dry rotted and need replacing. Also what color is the fluid?

I agree with the other guy that you should check your hoses, etc. for rot. Keep in mind that coolant stores an electrical charge more and more the older it gets, and this corrodes the aluminum parts. This can lead to leaks where hoses clamp to aluminum. Change your coolant regularly. Also, the hoses don't last forever.

If you let your car idle and eventually get up to temperature (temp needle is horizontal) and it's not too cold outside, the fan will eventually kick on. If you have a logger, this happens at 210F. If it doesn't kick on, maybe your fan or its wiring are bad. If you're overheating, you should get coolant in your overflow bottle. If you're not seeing this, I'd look for leaks.

it has only happened at night so im not a hundred percent sure what color it is. how do i perform a leak test?

It is a special tool, you take the rad. can off, and you have a manual pump with a guage on it, and a fitting for the rad. cap area so you can twist it on and it be secure, then pump it till the guage reads say 20psi, and listen for leaks, coolant shooting out, hoses bulging, and check to make sure the guage is steady and not dropping pressure. most mechanic shops should have this tool, it takes like 10 minutes to do it. Go check the underside of the car at night with a flash and tell us the colr.

you can also tak e the overflow hose and hook a air pump up to it with a air matress nozzle. warning if there is a leak it might blow while you do this. But at least youl know where it is

You wont be able to check pressure, and you wont be able to get enough pressure to really test it going it with an air matress nozzle in the overflow hose.
