Ok I've searched all the faq's and forums and couldn't find anything on my problem. I'm having an issue with my cooling fans coming on late. On the gauge it would read a little past 3/4 but thats it. My fans will come on with the ac on. My relays all work. Fuses are good. I have a new fluidyne radiator, new head, new fail saif t-stat. water pump, belts etc. etc. I'm at a loss and Im all out of ideas.. Oh I also have a new fan switch.

So today at work we had a flat spot, I tested my circuit. I have power at the thermoswitch on the bottom of the rad. when i ground it out my fan doesn't come on. Is there something that I'm missing or of the obvious that would cause this problem.. Thanks

Maybe run them to a switch you can manually turn on from inside the car.

Did you ground the switch or jumper the two pins? This is a very simple ciciut. Fuse at pos battery post, relay in relay box, switch in radiator - that's it.

Thats why I don't understand why I have this problem. Now when I did test the at the switch I grounded out the harness and I heard a buzzing/clicking from the d/s relay box. With a test light I checked for power at the positive side of the switch harness and it took a couple of seconds to light up the test light and it did very little. Maybe high low relay with an intermittent problem.

Do you have a logger so you can see what temp you are actually at?

No. But I used a laser thermometer and the temp at the t-stat housing is 215 deg and at the front of the eng it is around 205. The top of the rad close to the upper hose temp is 212 deg and the lower portion of the rad is around 145 deg. So I know my rad is doing exactly what its supposed to and my coolant isn't boiling over. My gauge just reads a little too high for comfort. I do have a 195 deg t-stat though. That would explain the higher readings at the housing. Overall the car runs great, Im just not willing to nuke my engine...

Problem resolved. My Autometer gauge took a dump on me. I have a new one on the way. And my fuel curve was a little lean. causing the warmer than normal issue. But I did get the cooling fans to come on as intended. I have had to let the car run for about an hour. Then they start cycling. :)
