Ok I have a 2g with a 1g motor. Just before I got my car tuned, the tuner noticed that I had only 1 of 2 wires hooked up to the coolant temp sensor. That one that was hooked up was the one that operated the gauge on the dash. Now I know with the other one not being plugged in, your ecu will be reading that the car is overheating all the time although it really isn't. I dont see any loose wires hanging around anywhere. Is it possible to tap a wire into the "coolant temp sensor" wire on the ecu and run the wire under the hood and plug in into the sensor under the hood?

This is something that I have often wondered about. I also have a 2G with 6 bolt swap and my ECT sensor is not hooked up. However my car has always run fine and had no issues with cold starts since the swap. No CEL either. The swap was done by an extremely competent DSM pro whose skills I trust so I don't think it is something that he just forgot.

Can anyone familiar with 6 bolt swaps lend any input?

1FASTRICE, I don't think an inoperable ECT sensor would cause your ECU to think that the car is overheating. I think it's involved in adjusting fuel flow when the motor is cold.

Yeah, the tuner had mentioned about the rough cold starts. Havent noticed anything odd about my cold starts tho.
