im in the process of learning about DSM cars so my questions might make me look pretty new but thats ok
ive been reading up and its obvious that there are stock TURBO 2G/1G DSMs, and there are stock non-turbo 2g/1g dsms...
i come from a honda background, so 2 me this is kinda like the Si model of a civic that comes with a stock VTEC and the non-vtec models, like for example dx
so when ti comes to DSMs, do factory turbos have better engines then the non-turbos? and on top of the better egines they are also turbod?
if so...can someone tell me the specs of the engines?
thanks for the help!:)

You need to do alot of research on vfaq and 1000 questions already answered, but I'll make it simple.

1G's have:

1.8 NT
2.0 4G63 NT
2.0 4G63 Turbo

2G's have:

2.0 4G63 Turbo
2.0 420A NT
2.4 4G64 SOHC NT

The 2G 420A NT motor isnt worse than a 4G63T motor just not setup to handle boost from the factory.

Yes, they have different motors in the different models. The turbo motor is called the 4G63T and is one of the most potent 4 bangers around. It is a 2 litre motor and came with 190-195 (not sure exactly) hp in the 1G and 210 in the 2G. They have some small differances like compression, bolt pattern, head flow numbers and so on. If you check out the tunign guide it will let you know the basic upgrade path that everyone takes. There is alot that can be written so I suggest you just look around on the board and learn as much as you can. Welcome aboard.

PS Buy a turbo car in five speed if you get one and dont vent or post about venting. :thumb: We hate that.

boostedinaz pretty much summed it up, but because you are from the honda world, I think it is prudent to add that the compression of the motor has a lot to do with how much boost it can safely handle. That is why it is more deisrable to have a 4g63t if you plan on running a turbo, rather than adding a turbo to the NT 4g63.
