Confused, and a funny story!!!!

Ok so my lil brother just finished his 1997 gst after a motor swap, and hes having me help him. At his house his step has this confused look, and says the engine they ordered is lil diffrent and he had all these extra parts left over. My lil bro swears he ordered a 1997 4g63t and thats what they put in the car. What was left blew my mind!

So am I crazy or did my lil bro and his step dad, just do a 2gen to 1gen JDM engine swap. They put the t25 and his old mainfold on the car to make it work. Also his step dad said the firing order way off from the first engine! If so he really lucked out and has no clue!

Also should we swap that t25 for the 13g????

They didn't notice that the new engine had 6bolts on the flywheel or that the timing cover was a little different, not forgetting that the head had a different CAS sensor. 13g vs t-25? I would leave the t-25 on there unless you have the 16g install kit with you then still I would leave the T25 on there until I got a 14b/16g on there.

If he did a longblock swap, check the intake ports on the head to see if they are the 1g or 2g. Also on the VFAQ website it says how to identify a 6 bolt from a 7 bolt. One has a bump on the timing belt side of the oil pan, the other has a valley or "dent" on the oil pan. Can't remember which. But it could be a 1g 7 bolt so the only thing I can think of is to check the intake ports on the head to determine if it's a 1g or a 2g 7 bolt. You might want to consider dropping the oil pan to make sure there are oil squirters in the block. If there aren't any, than he has an n/t engine.
