compression test help

i have a 91 gsx and im trying to attemp a compression test.....how to you do it and when i tryed last night i have 90psi.....thats way too low.

explain how to compression test please and what my #s should be.....

No problem. Utilize your resources. That magical search button works wonders. It has answered many of my questions. In fact. Most of my questions have already been answered. All I had to do was use the search.

Be a little patient.

Get a compression tester. Take out all the plugs. Hook the tester up to one of the cylinder where the plug was. Crank the car for around 15-20 seconds. Make sure you do this with the throttle plate completely open and the engine warm.

You definitely don't need to crank the car that long to get a reading. I will take about 4-6 revolutions which takes between 5-10 seconds.

That is what I normally do them at to make sure I am getting a good reading since it takes the needle a second to move. But what you said is good enough to tell if you have low compression.

ok thanks for the help sorry for being impatint i just needed to know what my compression was...and i did it yesterday on a cold trial and got 130 acrossed the board.
