OK, I did my compression check and basically got 125 across the board, numbers where like 123, 125, 121, 130. My question is, would changing the head gasket fix the problem? If so, do they have one that raises the compression ratio? I"m not trying to do a rebuild do to the fact that it's a 7-bolt and I'm leaving for Iraq in 2 months....

was the motor fully warm? throttle plate open? put a little bit of oil in each cylinder and re-do the test. if the results go up a headgasket wont help

I got 110 psi on my test. Sent a 6 bolt I had waiting for the day to buschur racing for a stage 3 job. If you can find a 6 bolt and have the cash have a motor done while you are doing your tour. Mark

It will make it 2 months easy. Metal gasket requires machined head and block surfaces and Ti rings do not exist.Mark

Your engine will make it 2 months it just wont have the power that it could. Chances are pretty good that it isn't the head gasket since the numbers are low in all 4 cylinders.

Just do a cylinder leakage test. Almost nothing escapes this test. This will verify if there is any air leaking from your rings or valves. Before you do anything, verify that your cam timing is correct, incorrect cam timing will give low compression results on all cylinders.

OK, I will try and do the wet test today, if not then definitely tomorrow. I heard that I can boost higher to make up for the lost compression...is that true?

From what I've heard from DSMJim this is true. He said he would raise it by 1 psi for every 10 psi of compression lost. Although he also mentioned that once he started doing this that things went down hill quickly.

Did you do the wet test yet?

I've been told that the wet test doesn't "work" on our cars. Wouldn't the oil just sit in the dish of the piston? Of course the compression is going to rise. Don't flame me here, I just want an explanation to it.

What is the service limit for a 2g? I know for a 1g it is 114 psi.

1G's are 121psi for the low. Mine came in at 110psi so stage 3 is on the way and bank account is going down!

I have heard 150 is the lowest for 2g's could be wrong though. Even so you shouldn't try to fix the motor since it looks like you basically need a rebuild. Use the car for the 2 months that you have left and when you come back swap to a built 6 bolt

Well guys, thanks for all your replies and suggestions. I went and bought a brand new compression tester and redid my test and guess what....180ish across the board....went back to the place and told them that there's was off, but of course they said it's fine so w/e.....thanks again for everyone's input... :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:
