My engine is almost put back together. Among many other parts, I replaced my cylinder head. Someone mentioned that I need to compress my lifters and oil them and let them sit over night before starting my car, otherwise I could bend my valves.

The cylinder head and everything relating to it is already installed. Does this just mean I have to take off my valve cover again to do this?

The main question though is this: How do I compress my lifters and oil them to prevent any valves from bending? What kind of tools are required?
