use a c-clamp and keep twisting it, then stick a pin or something through the hole to hold it there.......you can always buy a new one....not a bad idea.....i got a new one sitting here that i have as a spare, but i probaly wont use it, PM me if interested, otherwise try the c-clamp method. Good luck man

thats when buying one from ###--eh hemm... I mean pep boys comes into play. See you buy one, put duck tape on the ends, use it, take the tape off then return it.... as they are usually upwards of $8-9 for one (though its a good tool to own also :D )

Something easier you can do right now: Take a jack, put your tensioner on the jack, pump up the jack with the tensioner on it and the top on your transaxle on the bottom of your car. As the jack lifts, the tensioner compresses and then you can easily stick the holding pin in to keep it from popping up. Just had to do my timing four times (long story) and this worked every time.

1 - Buy a new one.

2 - Just put the Sumbitch back on the damn car & use the allthread de-tensioning tool to re-compress it & stick the pin in like you could have done before you took it off.

a soft jawwed vice or just put a towel in the vice and clamp that sucker down, if it is easy to compress the tentioner in the vice then you need to buy a new one.
