So while I was hooking my throttle body back up earlier I realized my intake tube for the air intake has a massive hole, I have a cold air intake from my 05 Neon that has a bend similar to how the intake on the eclipse is set up. I haven't quite measured it up, before I do I wanna know if it is possible. In the first picture the rubber hose is for the vacuum line the little sensor next to it is some sort of temperature thing don't quite remember what it was if i were to plug the hole up where it plugs into should be fine right? In the second picture is that connector/sensor necessary? On to my other question when I was changing my throttle body I also changed the coolant hoses attached to it and lost a lot of coolant/antifreeze in the process. I hooked the new hoses up today and refilled the coolant/antifreeze, while doing this alot of air was bubbling out of it, do i need to burp the cooling system? Also the car is a 1.8 if it matters any

As far as the sensors go, you may be able to bypass them, but you'll possibly throw a CEL in the future and may not run at an optimal A/F ratio. The coolant question, simply put, just watch your temp guage and check your heat. If your overheating and or your heater isnt blowing hot air, then you'll def need to purge the air out of your system. Some vehicle are more picky then others in this scenario.

How would I bypass the sensor just unplug it? Anything I can adjust on the throttle body to change the air fuel ratio? If the ratio is nit optimal how much of a power loss would I see even though it would be an aftermarket intake

No clue what that first sensor is. I've never seen stock sensor like that or near that location. But I'm far from educated about the 1.8L so you might need to do some research on your own. It might help to remove the sensor and post up some more pictures and any numbers you find.

However, you absolutely need the 2nd sensor. That's the Mass Airlfow Sensor. It measures incoming air so the ECU can deliver the right amount of fuel.

There is no air/fuel ratio adjustment on the throttle body. Your ECU controls the A/F ratio using inputs from sensors like the MAF, TPS, and o2. If that intake pipe isn't leaking and is properly installed, it will have very little effect of performance. Good or bad.

Follow that first sensor back and see where it goes to... make sure its not rigged in there just so that intake would work.

I'm pretty sure he already followed the wire back; it goes to an '05 Neon. I think yanking it out and putting a chunk of aluminum tape over the hole should adequately sabotage the Neon. To fix the DSM you can use black duct tape on the air intake hose.

The neon is wrecked and sitting in my garage I don't know if I want to fix it anytime soon so since its just sitting basically useless I wanted to use the intake that I bought for it. I just need to know if it is even compatible because of that sensor on the eclipse stock intake the mass air flow sensor i believe?
