Nice car, but i got to call bs on it running high 11's. Motor looks pretty stockish. Doesn't even appear to have a front mount. Even has power steering and a/c. Doesn't even have an adjustable fuel pressure regulator which means the fuel pump is probably stock. A 14b can do 11's but it takes ALOT of work, weight reduction and tons of other stuff to get it there. No way the previous owner spent 10 grand on the engine...he probably ment he spent 10 grand on the paint and body.

Congrats on the new first car. Mine was a 94 galant that needa a paint job as much as it could get. It was 9 different colors that were all faded and crappy looking so yours look awesome compared to it LOL. Congrats man!

I am in the minority to be sure..I kinda like it the way it is...

There is a subset that LOVES bodykits and extensive paint schemes...while I would not do it..I can appreciate the work and passion that drives someone to do it. In my estimation, their desire for the outside to look nice is the same desire that makes me want to upgrade the engine of my vehicle.

If there's 10g's sitting under that hood, it better have a built aluminum rod shortblock, a built cylinder head, some quality cams, and a built transmission. All I see is a UICP.... sounds like you got trolled.... :ohdamn:

You asked for comments, so be prepared to take the good and the bad. The only reason for my comment was in hopes you did not over pay for the car, because someone claimed work was done that wasn't. 'Tis all.

I'm only about 35 minutes away, if you'd like me to go over the car I can tell you what's done to it, aside from pulling the oil pan to see what's been done to the engine. I can always take a peek down a spark plug hole with a boroscope and see if it has stock pistons, and thatll tell the story.

1. Buy car
2. Ask questions about what you bought

I don't get this mentality.

Post some clear engine shots, interior shots, etc. We may be able to help you out with what you actually got if you can't link up with Jon. In any case, aesthetics aside, I'm sure it will be a fun car. Make sure you do preventative maintenance, and don't be quick to get butthurt on the forums. People WILL share opinions, and they won't always mesh with yours.

I like the paint job!! It reminds me of some of the paint on the older 70's-80's doorslammer drag cars!

I'd rock it as is.

Time to go find my old hair metal casset tapes!

But like others have said, post up some more detailed pics.

Hi guys once its out the shop i will deffinatly post more pics. And thank you for liking the paint. And its okay if people state comments im just glad i bought this all on my own. Im just curious to know what he really done to his engine kinda hard to beleive it got an 11.9 on track and sold it flr 2k but who knows s*** happens.

Unless you have a slip for that 11.9 and some way to verify it's his old slip; ignore that point entirely.

I should amend my post to say that as long as its not rusted to f*ck underneath.

Yup. Not saying it's impossible, but very unlikely.

My best anecdote to compare on the 14B was my most recent effort of mid 12s (12.6xx with a 2.0 60' stands out in my mind) trapping mid 100s mph circa 2008 .. in a 1GB Laser with no interior aft of the front seats, even then it took a big FMIC, Pump Gas + Toluene with Water/Meth and all the boost that poor 14B could give me. Link showing 33-35lbs/min regularly on an Evo 8 MAS

FWD 5MT on Snow Tires with a 315lb pilot LOL

Look at the 14B efforts in 11s.. shouldn't take long considering how short that list is.

Check out the VFAQ site. Start reading A LOT. The DSM world has bunch of knowledge but you pretty much have to read and see and trust what the guys have been doing for years that works with these cars. Don't let your local mechanics tell you something about your car without looking it up or knowing the subject matter, 90% of those guys don't know shit. When I bought my first 2g I was like a junky over DSMs and still. I love these cars. Good luck and welcome, start reading!

The longer you own a car like DSM that forces you to learn about the principles of operation and performance.. the more you learn how little most "mechanics" know.

I have a good friend that is part of the reason I got into these cars, and is constantly giving me advice.. now looking back, its pretty apparent why his cars were always broken in one way or another.

He's a mechanic by trade, with certs. ಠ_ಠ

But is it all show?.... I respect the "racecar" look when it IS a race car. Because then it becomes something functional. Anyways Op you should change the car to the way you want it because like you said its not you, so make it that way.

I bought my own first car when I was 17 too. It was a 1999 Spyder. with ricer taillights (I just blacked them out to look better) It was an auto but it was the only one I found at the time that had any compression left in the motor. When a lady totaled it about 3 yrs later I got my 1g. So learn what you can and clean the car up a bit. Who cares about its past (as long as it wasn't a hack job) and worry about the future it has with you. :thumb:

So damn true. Sad, but true.
