Did some searching and came up with nothing. I'm looking for opinions on the DSM link from those out there that use them. I understand what's involved with getting one (95 EPROM ECU, etc.). My questions are ease of use, options, limitations, etc. Thanks.

Most people that have it will tell you that its better than a stand alone due to the fact that it's much more user friendly. I've had mine for only a little while but from what i've seen so far it was more than worth the money.

Depends on your goals. I would never use an safc/logger again after using dsmlink. But for some people it isn't enough and they need a full standalone.
Features are good and when you become a dsmlink owner you can access the forums and that is great because the guys who created it are the ones who answer your questions. You can also suggest new stuff and chances are they can do it.
Very easy to use but can be costly if you don' t have a 95 already in your car. An safc/logger will do most people fine, the question is do you really want it?

Yes it will. You'll have to use certain options in the DSM link software such as inverting the Camshaft Angle Sensor (CAS) and you'll also have to switch you're spark plug wires (the 95s fired in a different order). That should be it. Check out the FAQ at dsmlink.com.

DSMLink is my friend. Super great product. easy to use very adjustable with cool features also like not having to lift off the accelerator to shift, can studder the rpms at launch. spool turbo off the line, and you gain respect from others because you look and feel like a real tuner. You actually learn alot with it also.

does anybody know if dsmlink will do anything for my vented BOV? so that i dont have to buy a GM MAS and MAFT? i think i remember hearing somewhere that if you got dsmlink and you're venting your BOV that it will keep it from going rich when you shift and smooth out your idle. let me know! :thumb:

The dsmlink adjust's fuel curves so YES it would be able to fix this problem.

You can download the software and play with the supplied logs or when someone posts a dsmlink log file(it logs tons of things, it even calculates horsepower, although Im not sure of the accuracy of that). I am switching from a safc/logger setup to dsmlink. I already sold off my logger and safc, I wish I get dsmlink in the first place. Also, if you want to vent that bad you should go ahead and get the gm MAF and MAFT.

i'm already venting, that's how i bought my car. but i figured if it would help that then there is no point in buying a MAFT.

IF you need a DSMLink to 'look' and 'feel' like a real tuner, nothing's going to help you.

That being said, it is an awesome product.

It's not the ECU, it's the type of air sensor/ location of sensor that determines whether you can vent or not.

I was just saying , adding aftermarket parts doesn't make one a tuner so if you're not making fine adjustments to the car you probably won't feel like a tuner, just saying.

so if I had my stock 2G MAF and dsmlink and I vent, will it help? i've got a yes from 98redGS and a no from leet. I was checking out their site and it says...:
"Allows the user to "dial in" changes made to the air metering system (hacked MAF, bypass tube, or GM MAFT type unit)." that's a quote from their page.

and if it wouldn't help, could I just get a GM MAF from a junk yard and stick it after my BOV and hook it up without a translator? or would i still have to buy a translator?

I personally would not vent unless you had an hks vpc, aem ems, or gm maf and maft. You cant use the GM maf without the MAF translator. Its possible to vent without it, but your car will not run as well as it would if you recirced, or used an air meter thats placed before the TB(with one of the systems i mentioned).

Is venting really that important to spend the money on a maf and maft. Do you want your car to be fast or your bov to sound a little louder?

no, venting is not that important to me. let's not get into a discution over venting or not. it's been argued about many times... i was just wondering if dsmlink would do anything for me because i'm going to buy it and i already have a vented BOV. thanks for the help! :thumb:

Some cars run fine venting, some don't. It's simply the car that's the variable here.
