Alright guys, I've already searched the forums and found a few shops around town to call. I wanna know if anyone's found any knew good machine shops around Colorado Springs or Denver. Anywhere around there is cool. Just dont wanna spend 5000 on a long block to SBR.

In the order I would and have gone to. Geddes(colorado springs), Greeley Automotive Machine(Greeley) and Western Engine Supply(denver).

All three have done me well, just had a problem once with Western. Geddes machined our latest motor in our 2G.

Pro Built Automotive just built my long block. They did a very nice job.

I have used Greeley Automotive Machine to rebuild 5 or 6 heads. Had to take the same head back 4 times because they kept messing it up. So I would have to say do not go there.

What did they mess up on the head?
 
Over looking stuff and forgetting what I tell them. Or losing their notes numerous times. I print up a few copies of what I want done now. Not only for Western, but the others as well. I leave nothing unturned and open anymore.

Hm let's see.

The first time I got the head back it came with two broken exhaust mani studs left in the head which were not there when I took it in.

The second time I brought it home and noticed that the exhaust cam was very hard to turn. Upon further inspection I find out that they put the cam caps back on in the wrong order.

The third time I get the head installed on the car and it will not start. After spending 3 days checking and re checking every possible thing I decide to pull the head and take it back in. They tell me that one of the valve guides slid out and was holding a valve open. :rolleyes: Which I wasnt sure I believed at the time. So they had to bore it out and install an oversized guide.

Well the last and final time they messed it up was when I pulled the head for my rebuild a couple months ago. I took it to a different machine shop which I had do my entire rebuild and they called and said that my head was no good. I asked why and they told me that one of the valve guides slid out and has been rattlin around and messed up the bore. Come to find out that the hole was never bored out to begin with (which I was told it was) and they had tried to stuff an oversized guide in there anyways.
