I have an 1993 Eagle Talon Tsi Awd 5 speed

How much Horsepower can i place upon my clutch before it will damage it.
I am currently pushing 340 horsepower (dyno tested) and occasionally it bucks out of gear.
If i drive slow I'll be in third gear reaching 4500 on tach and it lets go and flys to redline.
But when i take her to the dragway no problems
If it can't handle it what is a good clutch to replace it with.

I like to fix things right the first time.

Update your profile. A stock car with an ignition wishlist doesn't equate to 340hp.

Also, 340hp in an AWD is heavy business, a stock clutch isn't going to hold anywhere near that.


In any event, I would recommend to you a Centerforce Dual Friction clutch. Pedal feel is close to stock but holding power is exceptional.

Everyone will now give you the 'ol "Buy an ACT 2X00" ACT is very good, I just prefer the CFDF.

I say if your running that high go with an act2600 if you don't mind a little bit more "pressure" coming from the pedal.

I love my 2600.
But honestly I don't think the "popping out of gear" is because of the clutch...




I'm going to move this to drivetain/tranny because hopefully you will get some more specific replies there.

I know about my profile , when i was signing up my computer was messed up (nasty virus) I wasn't sure how to change it. Will get to that though.
I have been working on this car for two years, made many mistakes. none too severe. thankfully
I have MSD Ignition. MSD wires / NGK plugs
3 inch Dual Cat Back Exhaust. Toyo Tires .Computer wiped and reprogrammed. That gave the car a really nice boost. My turbo spools up earlier instead of 3 grand , kicks up at 2 grand. Dry Nos (only 40 shot)(I like my car...) .I will list all the mods at a later date. To be honest though I don't need to go any faster than this. It already scares the crap outta me. I am just worried i placed all this money into it, and bye bye broken car. (might as well bury me in my car in its grave)
If a new clutch is in order, then thats what i will do.

i bought a 1990 gst parts car and drove it for a month before i ripped it apart and it would pop out of gear in 3rd also..the clutch was brand new...it had like 30 miles on it or something so i would bet your problem is something else
