I posted this in my local section but i should have actually posted it in here :aha:
HOWEVER,
Guys, I need a second opinion.
I rebuilt my motor 15K miles ago 6-bolt in a 2G, and along with it, went a brand new Mitsubishi clutch (pp, clutch, and tb) and a fwd fidanza flywheel. I don't know if dealer parts have just gone to shit, but I know my way around a transmission, and everything was done right. When I turned the car on the tb was making noise, as if it was going out; and 15k later the Bearings in the clutch disk itself, self destruct!

I faced the music, and did a forced upgrade act 2100 clutch, pp, and a new mitsu. Tb.
My question I have running through my head is: I know that it's not recommended, money is tight since I just bought this clutch, but can I reuse the flywheel? It has some slight heat marks from the old clutch but it's only been ~15k miles..
Opinions?

Clean it up with a scotchbrite pad and some brakleen. Check for warping and check step height. Checking flywheel step height can be done with a digital calipers and a good quality metal straight-edge. Use the metal straight edge to check for flatness and confirm that it isn't warped on the flywheel friction surface. Use the digital calipers and measure the step height from the dowel steps (flat surface of step) to the friction surface. They should be between 0.608-0.612" You can then place the metal straight edge across the steps to check the friction surface for consistency by using the calipers from the top of the metal straight edge to the friction surface, then subtracting the exact thickness of the straight edge you are using to find the actual friction surface height.

Learned all that from a good friend.
