I'm getting ready for the swap, Here's what I have, should I be getting anything else? Anything I don't need? I'm placing one more order, Ill list those parts too.

New parts to go in:
-Flywheel (act)
-Disc (south bend)
-PP (2600 ACT)

OEM Parts:
TOB
Clip
Ball
Fork
**block to bell housing dowels x2

Rear main seal parts (all oem):
Oil separator
**Gasket (for rear main seal housing)
**rear main seal

(**parts are being ordered now...)

Anything else? I have loctite and grease for when its needed... Should I use new bolts too or is that overkill?

And is my assumption that the output shaft (to transfer case) seal can be serviced with the trans bolted up, only pulling the xcase to service it?

pilot bearing. while your in there.

There is no pilot bearing on a DSM.

Have you thought about SS line from the slave to the hardline? It would get that accumulator out of the way. Otherwise it sounds like a good plan. Also, it's my understanding that the output shaft and input shaft seals can only be accessed by tearing down the trans.

Sorry for the noob question, but why is there no pilot bearing on a DSM? I'm facing a clutch change and was told the noise I was hearing was a pilot bearing. Not trying to hijack this thread, just curious. Thanks.

You mean by tearing down... taking off and opening up right? so they are not a simple repair here. check.

I was thinking about that SS line. do you mean from slave to master, or just to hard line? I think I might prefer all the way...

A good jack, a block of wood and a bible

check, double check, and beer = my bible. check. I have 2 stands.

How high do I need to get the car off of the ground? the bell housing looks pretty big...

I am certainly searching for a cherry picker.

I used 2 jackstands on the front-end at maximum height, tranny fell out the bottom. Oh, and cotter pins and I used zip ties to tie things up like wires and such. Also I broke my reverse switch on the install so either take it out or be mindful of it.

you CAN replace the output shaft seal with the trans on, but you have to take the Tcase off, just cut it out and stick in the new one, make sure your cut is clean though, it would probably be EASIER to do if you cracked open the trans up and took the bell housing off, but tha'ts too much work for a seal that's RIGHT there when you take off the Tcase.

Make sure its not your Tcase input seal though cause mine was blown and i had heavy weight shockproof all inside my bell housing, took a few hours to get it all outa there. I originally thought it was the Trans output seal.

Transfer case output seal can be changed. Transmission input shaft seal cannot be changed without teardown of the entire unit.

Okay i missed this ha! beat me to it.
