Clutch problem....need help

Yesturday morning it was freezing out and there was a bunch of frost on my car, so before my dad left for work he started it for me for to warm it up because i leave just a few min. later than he does, i didn't ask him to. Anyways when i went to leave and go in reverse there was quite a bit of clutch play and it felt like it didnt engage until really close to the floor and it was pretty hard to get it into R, took a bunch of times and also shifting gears that day was hard. So this morning i started my car and went to leave and the clutch didnt even feel like it was doing anything, i could press it all the way to the ground, and the only gear i could put it into when clutch down, was R and it would grind..... so i couldnt drive it today......maybe something needs to be tightened, readjusted, hydraulics, some line or i dont even know, someone have an idea of what it is, and how much it would roughly cost, thanks alot in advance....

Sounds like either master cylinder or slave cylinder died on you. The same thing happened to me, and I replaced my slave cylinder and I've been fine since. Do a search for slave and master cylinder problems, and you'll find some good troubleshooting advice. Vfaqs has a writeup on replacing the slave (that's what I used). You could also just have a bad clutch line.

Did you try pumping the peddle? wait these have a hydraulic clutch setup right? If you can pump the peddle a bunch of times, maybe like 20 and then it feels like its disengauging the clutch than its the clutch master cylinder. Its bad and more than likely you have some brake fluid runniing down the inside of your firewall. If you can get it pumped up like that than you can actually drive it like that for a little while, depending on how good you are, haha

I just checked and my clutch fluid is good, and also I can change gears when car is off, but clutch sticks to floor, and when car is on I cant change gears but clutch doesnt stick to floor. I was reading haynes manual and it also mentioned what calcifer said. but here are some other things it mentioned if I can get some more opinions or if someone could help pinpoint, would be very very helpful to me:

pedal travels to floor w/ no pressure or very little resitance:
-master or release cylinder faulty
-hose/pipe leaking or burst
- connections leaking
-no fluid in reservior
-broken release bearing or fork

unable to select gears:
-faulty transaxle
-faulty clutch disc
- release lever and bearing not assembled properly
-faulty pressure plate
-pressure plate-to-flywheel bolts loose

clutch pedal stays on floor:
-faulty or damaged clutch master or slave cylinder
-broken release bearing or fork
