clutch not fully disengaging

I have been having trouble getting my car into any gear while driving. After doing some research around here i determined it was my slave cylinder. The boot was full of fluid and the clutch felt light. After replacing it and bleeding the system there was no change. I tried adjusting the linkage but it still engages right off the floor after bringing the rod out 3 full turns. The slave cylinder looks as if its getting good extention, but i never looked at it when it was functioning correctly. I dont know where to go from here.

Now the problem has progressed to a grinding sound when the clutch is depressed. How do i know if the clutch master cylinder is bad. I should also add the problem was intermittent before the grinding started. Sometimes the clutch felt squishy and other times it felt ok. But regardless it was always harder to get in gear. I bled the system extensively with no change.

I'd replace the master cylinder too, it's a P.I.T.A. but it could fix your problem. If it is bad it will usually leak brake fluid where it goes through the firewall above the pedals. Its a good idea to replace master and slave at the same time. I'd also inspect the hydraulic line going to the slave, I had the same problem and it turned out that the line was leaking where the rubber hose meets the hard line attached to the slave. Also, is this a heavier clutch and did you but a washer under the pivot ball?
