Spruce Grove,
Ok, so on Christmas day I am driving out to a friends for Christmas supper and I am thinking to myself that my clutch doesn't feel like it normally does.

As I keep driving it is getting trickier to shift and then after I park it I can't get it in gear.

The clutch pedal was very soft at this point. I could shift when the car was turned off though and that allowed me to take it up to the shop. It is like the clutch just isn't being activated.

So we put the car on the hoist and lift it up and take a look around, it has clutch fluid and there are no leaks. We pop the rubber housing around the slave clyinder off to try and see if there is any visible problem with the clutch or fork etc.

Didn't notice anything but my friend notice that the slave cylinder is only moving about as far as it used to(you can see the old dust ring inside the cylinder and it only travels about halfway.

I was just wondering what this most likely is, master cylinder?, slave cylinder?, pedal adjustment?(didn't seem to be anything wrong here), something else???

I have a parts car that I was just going to steal whatever I needed from. First we were going to do the master cylinder as I thought that would be the most likely problem. Then I started wondering(I am away from the car, why it isn't fixed yet...), is it possible to steal the whole clutch fluid assembly to make it easier?

Sorry I could probably find this by searching but I am very busy and fly back tomorrow and need to fix the car before Monday. Thanks for the help, you guys are always great.

A couple more questions.

How much fluid will I need most likely? Dot 3 brake fluid right?

Thanks for any help, I was just informed I am probably working on this tomorrow morning after my flight home...

We went out and got her fixed. First tried to swap all of the hydraulic system but there is one place where the hydraulic line goes through the brake hydraulic line making it impossible.

So then we bolted everything back up and just took off the master cylinder. Grabbed the one off of my parts car bolted everything up and bled the system.

Started it all up and everything worked. Woohoo :D

Kind of odd how nothing was leaking but obviously there was a problem with the master cylinder, or air got in somehow but I don't know that could have happened.
