Clutch Goin Out?

Ok guys for awhile now I've noticed rough sounds when i shift into second gear, sounds alot like the clutch isnt even pressed, but it still shifted alright, well up until a couple times today. Fianlly today when I was taking off from a light (not even fast) when i pushed in the clutch and shifted to second, it didnt go all the way into second and lemme say there was some grinding, I had the clutch held in the whole time and finally pulled it into second.

On the same trip home while driving the highway during rush hour I was coasting with the stick in nuetral and clutch pressed in, when i let the clutch out (still in nuetral) the car seemed to roll better with the clutch out. I dont know if that really has anything to do with the clutch, but I thought it might be the clutch still just slightly catching on something.

Could it be the clutch, or should I be expecting a bigger problem ahead?

Is it a stock clutch? Has it been original from the factory? Sounds like the clutch is engaging but the plates may be worn. Have you checked your tranny fluid lately?

Yes its the stock clutch, and no I havent checked fluid lately, will try to do that first thing tomorrow

I don't know about that second problem you posted, but rough shifting (along with alot of grinding) sounds like you might have a synchro going bad on you...

When that happens you can either replace the tranny (good time for the Neon tranny swap?) or rebuild. 2nd gear is on the output shaft, and I've heard that it is not servicable. Though, someone on 2GNT said they figured out a way to press everything out - but still no word on whether or not you can find the parts to rebuild the output shaft.
