Clicking sound coming from throttle body?

1992 n/a. When I have the key on and motor not running there is a clicking sound coming from below the throttle body. From what I can tell it is probably the idle speed control. Is it supposed to make a clicking sound? I've also have been having problems with the idle at cold starts and it won't stay running when up to temp. Is the isc something I have to replace or can it be cleaned? Is there adjustment to it?

No , adjustment or cleaning isn't possible. Sounds like it's a good time to replace it. It'll give you exactly the issues you're having. You could always pull it out and test it before jumping for a new one if you like.

I read that testing is best it when it is warm but nothing about how to test it.

I have noticed mine makes noise as well when the key is in the on position just measure to see if the ohms are in the correct range to verify no damage is being done to your ecu and your good to go.

True, the only way to test it is ust a resitance test. Not bulletproof, but a start. I believe it says in the Hayes manual what it should be but it's been so long I could be mistaken. Honestly there's not a good chance that the noise your hearing is coming from anything else. I'd just source a new or known good IAC sensor and go from there. Worst case you'll have a new sensor that'll last you years. Never known a TPS to make any "clicking" sounds, I can't think of anything on the throttle body itself that woulod either. And the IAC's are pretty commonly bad or failing.
