ok so I just put my tranny back in my car and im starting to hear a clicking sound in my front driver side wheel sometimes when im turning...I inspected the boots when re-installing my axles and they were fine as well as the splines on both sides of the half shaft...what could be causing this click?

The left side would be going into the half shaft. I would think that if his Fixed axle were not all the way into the tranny, the mounting bracket bolt holes wouldn't line up. I'm particularly interested in this thread, because I have the same issue. Left wheel (driver side) makes a clicking sound (clicks faster when the car is going faster) when making a right turn....go figure.

exactly what i meant by "carrier bearing" and yes its when i make right turns LOL...from my past experiences with my 1Gs it was always a dried out joint due to a split boot but everything is good on my 2g...

Mine has been doing it for a while now and I have replaced complete axles and the transmission. I'm starting to wonder if it could be a wheel bearing/hub assembly.....or something with the brakes.

clicking noise when turning is usualy a outer cv joint . the boot doesn't have to be torn to be bad it could just be dried out and worn . but make sure that the axles are in all the way in trans .

did it click before the tranny install? If not, it has to be something to do with your disassembly/ reassembly. Did you tighten the lugnuts and make sure the wheel was on straight? Just got through everything you did and make sure it checks out then start looking into mechanical failures like axles or wheel bearings.

ya I was contemplating all possible reasons i could be hearing that click while in the shower today and i cant be sure if the click was present before the transmission removal because its a new car to me and drove it once before doing the work, its got all new fluid in the tranny (mt90) and xfer case + rear end (shockproof heavy) and shifts like butter, if it isnt a bad cv joint in disguise under a good boot it could possibly be the longer cotter pins i used on the axle nuts but unlikely....ill figure it out and let you guys know...right now im working on a bad vss to get it smogged.
