I have a 99 gsx along with evoscan and the tactrix cables. I also have a 3"DP and catback with no cat. The rear o2 is just ziptied under the car.
I have to get emissions done by the end of this month. At emissions they only do obd2 scans, but here is my problem.

I keep getting the rear o2 code (because there is no cat) and I clear it with evoscan. Then about 10 minutes later it comes back. I clear it again and it comes back etc etc.

Am I missing something to keep the CEL off?

Yes you can with ecuflash. Its in the pertity (sp?) bits. 1 or 2. set rear o2 to 0. Re-flash and your should be good.

Ill get an exact name and location once im off at 5.

He's trying to clear it with evoscan right now. Periphery bit 2 should erase it I believe. Been awhile since I flashed a 2g.

Yes, ecuflash is the one that you can change everything in. Made by the same guy, and its free.

If you don't already have a Tactrix 2.0 cable, you'll need that too.

In the original post it says he's running a 99 GSX, his profile is incorrect.

EvoScan = data logging and code reading software
ECUFlash = freeware that allows editing of the stock ROM image on the ECU

An openport 2.0 cable is needed to use both, the openport 1.3 can only be used for EvoScan on a DSM ECU.

You should read this thread to learn more.

A logger/code reader will tell you what codes are stored in the ECU's memory. Most (-EvoScan included-) will also allow you to reset that memory without opening the hood and pulling the car's battery cable off. If you have something wrong with the car, ie: you have your rear O2 sensor located anywhere else other than in the exhaust pipe behind a catalytic converter, you will just simply set the code in memory again as soon as the ECU completes the routine and determines there is a problem.

You can disable the ECU's check for rear O2 sensor function by editing the periphery tables of the ROM image on your ECU, but you will need to research in the thread I linked to find the specific info you need to know in order to pull it off.

That is, unless someone else here cares to spoonfeed you. I won't. Editing ROM images is not for someone who wants quick and easy.
