Cleaning intake manifold

I have read through a few threads on this but they all seem to cover cleaning the inside. I am looking to clean the outside. I just got my evo3 intake manifold and it looks every bit of 16 years old. I would like to make it look as close to new as possible. I do not have access to a bead blaster and do not want it polished, so those option are out. Do you guys have any tips/tricks to cleaning it up? Is there some chemical cleaner out there that works well?

Purple Power and a brillo pad. It a very potent cleaner, but works great!

Purple power? Never heard of it. Is it an automotive cleaner? If so can it be found at autozone/advanced/ect.

^ Yes. Walmart, Home Depot, Lowes all has it too.

Check your local autozone/advance/etc, sometimes they have it for $5 a gallon.

You could also go at it with a wire brush wheel on a drill. Just be careful...

Pressure washer than spray paint it.

Get it sandblasted then hot tanked, i did that to my 1g intake manifold and it looks brand new

Brake cleaner and a wire brush would work better than the purple power. Its better and faster at cleaning parts. Also kerosene works good as a cleaner.

I use purple power, then bead blast makes it look like new.

And I do a couple a month for powder coating.

Alumi brite it will turn bnib look. You need to put it on with the intake cool and dry. The stuff is pink and it foams up white when sprayed. I just use an old tooth brush to clean it with. Dont leave it on to long it will turn it gray.

Thanks for all the replies. I stopped by a local machine shop on the way home and they told me they can have it looking new inside and out for $30. I think I am going to go that route and save myself some work.
