Cleaning injectors that are out of the car, can it be done?

Is there a way to check and clean injectors that are off the car? I have four injectors that I wanted to check, and if they worked I wanted to clean and use them. I am not familiar with doing this so thats why I'm asking. I think this is one of the reasons I am running lean.
