i was just wondering if its bad to use engine degreaser in the engine bay then spray it off with a water hose? i done it before and let it dry for an hour and had no problems.

It really depends on the condition of your wiring and connectors. I would be more concerned with shorting something out than I would be with damaging the factory under-hood paint.

Regardless, I wouldn't (and don't) just blindly spray everything down. Use a small sprayer and take some extra time to stay away from electrical connectors, just to be safe.

And personally, I would recommend Simple Green over any "engine degreaser". ;)

I've used Purple Power and then cover up the connections, intake filter and then spray everything down. If you want them to be shiny like it come from the dealer, a little spray on a little of the interior protectant, or wax chemical and you'll have a very nice shiny engine bay.

I use Black Magic Engine Degreaser. its by far the best one i've ever used. spray it on from the can and hose it off with water. The only issue i've ever had using water was one time i had it get in an electrical connection that I'm pretty sure was a fuel injector. After some time, it evaporated out, but it was an inconvenience, nonetheless.

To late haha. It works good hope it didn't mess anything up

I also use Simple Green. Works great even on 110K miles worth of road grime, and it's not as abrasive as the degreasers.
