So today I decided to clean my throttle body, before I put on my new uicp and 1g bov. The method I used to clean my TB was the one outlined on VAQ in which you don't totally remove the TB. After I cleaned the throttle body, I put back on all the stock parts and let it sit for about 4 hours to make sure everything was dry. When I went on my test drive some 4 hours later I noticed a new ticking noise and my idle was at 1500 rpm. It now rests at around a constant 1300 on level ground, 1000 on a incline, no a/c or anything. From what I understand stock idle for a 2g is 800. Should I adjust the throttle cable it might have been stretched when I was cleaning the TB or should I go right for the bliss screw??? Thanks.

If you haven't done a boost leak test since the work I would recommend starting there. Anytime you remove/replace part of the intake tract it is a good idea to follow up with a leak test. Higher than normal idle is usually a result of getting too much air going through the TB. Obviously a vacuum/boost leak can cause this when under vacuum. Screwing in the BISS may restrict some airflow to compensate (if a leak is in fact the problem) but you would still have the leak under boost causing poor performance.

Also, I am assuming you removed the battery in order to remove the UICP/TB elbow thus resetting the ECU. The idle may come down a little bit as the ECU "relearns" things.

all right thanks guys for the help I'll do a boost leak test first, then if nothing happens go to work on the bliss. Hopefully it isn't the battery thing, I did remove it.
