I planned on repainting the stock bracket since it was a hideous rusty barnacle, but I mangled it to death upon removal. I used a 2 1/2" exhaust clamp and a metal bracket I had lying around. Before:

At some point I'll paint the bracket when I touch up the engine bay. Just thought I'd share the concept.

I think you're on to something here, those mild steel brackets always look like shit. There has to be a prettier way to implement your idea. Ive painted and re-painted my brackets and they always end up rusty and I don't drive my dsm's in the winter either.
 
I am definitely interested in the BFR backet. I tried following that last link. Error Page. Could you PM me a price for the bracket? Please and thank you!
