Here is a log I just did in my 97 auto gsx. stock t25, stock injectors and pump. Is my o2 bad. the car has been backfiring when shifting. I logged a bunch of other stuff, but could only put this much in one post. I used Evo scan to log. Thanks

Also forgot to ad i'm running boost off of the wastegate so only 12 psi.

You injector duty cycle is high for only 12 lbs. I would gaurentee a boost leak or vacuum leak somewhere. Your timing didn't look that bad though... You also need to find out why yout tps is only going to 70%.. It should be around 100 like 99 or 98

What is yout stft and ltft.-- You should have that logged as well..

Ya short term is what is going on at the time of the log. The long term is the computer remembers everything that went on and leading up to it kinda. Long term is different but anyways the longterm shows you a little lean

Ok I just logged it again. The short term stayed a .1008 while idling, and cruising, then I went WOT and it started going up really fast and stayed at 16.9654 for the whole time at WOT.

Looks like you lost o2 voltage in the middle of the log. Look at the quote I marked it

16 on a stft is lean. It should go negative. DId it go negative and you just thought it was positive. The more positive the number the leaner you are the more negative the richer. YOu should go negative because you should go richer when your wot

I would think so. Check the condition of the harness. Also the wires that are actually coming out of the front o2. Maybe it doesnt throw a cel for a intermittent o2 outage? I will get a cel every now and then for my rear o2. I made a o2 simulator for it. It depends upon which way the wind is blowing.

The wires look good, no signs of wear. The connector is a bit dirty thats all.

Hmm that is odd. That is really lean... I would say a bad o2 making ## trims all fed up

Well I guess I will change the o2. the car has been like this forever, I've been trying to fix the backfire, with no results.

That timing is ALL OVER the place. And as stated previously, the IDC are very very high. Have you run a boost leak test in a while?

Yes I have, I run it to 20 psi. I do lose pressure, a little quicker then I would like, but its not comming from any anywhere I can find. I do the soapy water spray trick. I think my turbo seal might be going bad, would this effect it? I have some side to side shaft play on my t25. When I first got the car it had horrible boost leaks. I fixed that. It seems to be loosing pressure inside the engine somewhere. I will do another test again with a different compressor at 20 psi tomorrow.


Would the biss screw cause this, that was a leak but I capped off the end of it. The biss screw is all stripped out, so I couldn't take it out to fix the seal.

Ya the biss can cause problems... I would take the TB off and try to mess with it to get it out. I would get the other parts first so you have less downtime... OEM biss and biss seal.. Let us know

I put rtv sealant in mine.

I capped it off, but it maybe way out of adjustment. I read that once you get it set, its good to put something in there to keep it from going out of adjustment.

That still doesnt explain the timing being everywhere. I forget, do you have a log of knock, i know evo scan records knock, so please post that up please.

Either your TPS is messed up or you didn't go WOT... Make sure your TPS is reading 10% at idle and 100% at WOT. If it is not then it will create problems. And your O2 sensor is probably bad also. Or you are running lean because your TPS is telling the ECU that your throttle is only open 50-70%.
