Hey guys i am saving up my funds for the shep trans. I would like to upgrade to stage 2 rebuild but that means more money. So now i am trying to save a few bucks. Whats the cheapest place you guys have found for the act 2600 clutch kit and the act flywheel too or possible another good flywheel that will work. Just lookng to save the extra bucks. THanks guys.
Jeff

EDIT: Also is the stage 2 shepard tranny really worth the extra 400.

If your car is stock like your profile says, the stage 1 will be just fine. People make gobs of power with the stock trans and the Shep stage 1 is an upgraded version of that. As far as a good deal on the clutch, check the vendors area. They are all going to be around the same price so pick one.

One more question though, why not go with a 2100 and stock flywheel? That would be cheaper and again, with your mods, would be more than enough.

I understand that you probably have huge plans with the car(as do I) in the future but you also have to remember that the bigger you want to go the more you will have to pay. The 2100 is a fine clutch and would tide you over for a while.

I considered the 2100 but the reason i decided to just stick with 2600 is because then when i start hitting my goal then i wont have to be dropping hte clutch out because it is slippin. Everything down there will be done is how i was looking at it. So the stage 2 isn't worth it? The real trouble with my stock trans now is that it howls when you let off the pedal which makes you think hey the rear differential bearing is goiung out but actually its some kinda bearing in the trans. Thats why i was going for a stage 2. But maybe i will talk him into lookin into it for me. Hes a nice guy i am sure he would.

Ok so you said the 2100 and that only holds 322 compared to the 2600 which holds 400 the difference is about 100 bucks. WHat really happens when you put more torque on the 2100 then its meant for?

Jeff

Just think about how long it will take you to make 320 all-wheel HP. I know it seems like a close reality but is it.

If you can afford the extra $100 do it but at your level now it isnt necessary.

The 2100 is a waste of money on an awd. You can kill it with mild bolt ons and a stock turbo. www.ImportEvolution.com has the 2600 for $367, $61 more than the 2100. It's worth the money. Make sure your pedal assembly is in perfect condition or you are going to have engagement problems.

Thanks dsm unknown that looks like its going to be the best wheel. WHats the big difference between the act flywheel and the fidanza?

EDIT: What are some good things to check on the pedal assembly?(slave cylinder...etc..)

Yeah I already kinda regret the 2600 with my mild mods. (AWD) You'll spend a lot of time wondering why/trying to fix your disengagement problems, then you'll be able to break in the clutch. Then you'll be fixing a bunch of OEM crap. Then you'll be tuning... etc,..

2100 might be the way to go for now. BUT, if you decide to go for the 2600 right now - take your time and cover all the bases (pedal assembly, shim pivot ball, adjust clutch, measure flywheel step, consider new clutch fork, check for leaks, adjust shift cables, bleed clutch system, bleed clutch system, bleed clutch system, bleed clutch system)

Good luck, and 2600 is a little stiff :sneaky:

Those prices are $70 higher than the link I provided for the 2600 clutch and Act flywheel.

Both flywheels are good choices, the Fidanza is lighter and has a replaceable friction surface.

Check the vfaq for the pedal assembly repair.

Don't forget to add $27 for the TO bearing and alingment tool. (included in the price with the other vendors)

RRE has good prices as well.
