this just started the other day after doing a couple of runs at the strip. whwn i have the clutch pedal down against the firewall it sounds like there is a chattering noise. but it dosnet do it constatly nor does it do it all the time and the intensity of the sound changes also? the geas feel a little notchy but i had royal purple syncromesh in there for quite awhile so im getting ready to switch to pennzoil syncromesh. but any idea what may be casueing these problems for me? everyhting except the tranny case is new. the throwout bearing, clutch, pressure plate, flywheel, slave cylinder and rod, cluth master cylinder, and pedal assembly are all replaced about 2000 miles ago and broke in properly, bled and filled accordingly.

Could just be a coincidence that you have the pedal down when you do it? Sounds kind of like an exhaust rattle. Since you said that it is completely random, check all of your heat shields and such on your exhaust.

checked. its a odd noise sounds like a wet belt but the noise seesm like its coming from under the engine not near the belts?

Under the car, Hmmmm.... Still sounds like exhaust related. Maybe a leak, or something suspension related.

Maybe the clutch isnt fully releasing everytime and it scrapes the flywheel...Oh and correct me of Im wrong but TRE recommends to NOT use Pennzoil Mesh since it is too thin for our trannys. I used it on my GST for a while (100% mesh) and I started grinding into 4th, I switched back to pennzoil GL-4 75-90 and the problem progressively went away.

Good luck

well on the syncromesh bottle it says 75w-80 and is gl-4 rated. this is not a good type to use? and why would the clutch not be releasing fully?

Is it al the way broken in / newly replaced? If it is, you romped on it waay too hard b4 it was broken all the way in...

no the transmission case itself has around 80,000 miles on it and it was out of a laser that was owned by an older women all of its life. and it was put into thecar around 4000 miles ago and was broken in properly by the original owner. then around 2000 miles ago i replaced the throwout bearing, flywheel, clutch, pressure plate, pedal assembly becasue of a crack in the bracket at the firewall, slave cylinder with a new rod, and the clutch master cylinder. filled properly and all adjusted properly and bled properly. gave all that a little over a 1000 miles of eay stop and go type drving with absolutly 0 miles of expressway driving and it was fine up until now about 3000 miles after replacing everything? any idea what could have happend???

the clutch catches about an inch from the floor and the gears are hard to engage especially when i go to a high rpm and try to shift it.

It sounds like something came out of allignment.. Was the flywheel / clutch stepped properly?

i have no clue its all stage2 stuff from clutchmasters and its a 6 puck clutch setup. i just made sure it was installed properly using the clutch alignment tool and the proper torque sequence and torque setting. it all worked fine a long time and did fine through many instances of abuse such as racing or at the drag strip. i am just very confused and its agrivating! i checked the pedal assembly where it meets at the firewall cause this caused this same problem when my old one cracked at that part. but its fine! :ohdamn:
