Okay.. so getting the lovely P0446 CEL. I have a 1997 GS-T (I also have the 98 GS-T as well), the earlier model so it's more like a 1996, charcoal canister is under the battery tray, the purge solenoid is up on the firewall and not directly on the intake manifold like the late 97-99 GS-T's. So I was having the normal issue with readiness codes, the early 97, 96, 95 is never able to get the 02 sensors or maybe some other codes ready. So I put a 99 ECU in the car and boom all the readiness codes are good to go after driving the car for about 5 minutes. Only problem is, CEL P0446 Evaporative Emission Control System Vent Control Circuit. My question is this, are there any electrical connections going from the ECU to the Charcoal Canister on the 95-early 97 GS-T's? Because from pictures I've seen, there IS a connector going directly into the canister on a late 97-99 GS-T which of course is located up near the front bumper. I'm asking because with the 99 ECU in there, it might be looking for that connection and there isn't one, because it doesn't even exist on the wiring harness for a 95-early 97 GS-T.

Is it impossible to rip out the emissions from a 99 GS-T and leave just the purge solenoid plugged in? Is there a sensor on the gas tank itself that would throw this code? I am at a complete stand still with this issue, I'm at the point now where I'm going to start taking all of the emissions stuff out and seeing what the deal is. Last resort would be put the 96 ECU back in, but then we're screwed for the readiness codes which with the way Texas does their emissions OBDII stuff won't work because it shows not ready for the o2 sensors and will fail the car.

Thanks for reading, Any advice or info is greatly appreciated. Btw, I have searched on every DSM Site I can think of and even on toyota forums, evo forums, etc. and haven't found a single answer.
