just a quick ?, witch one holds more heat in the black or silver coating. or do they hold the same amount thanks jim

I don't understand either. My friends who own a performance shops told me everyone paints race engines black so they dissipate heat better, they also said unfinished parts like the intake dissapate heat better than if you polished it. I argued with them for a long time that this made no logical sence but they were very confidant they were right. How can a black engine dissapate heat better? How can a rough surface on a intake manifold disapate much more heat than a polished one? I can see there being slightly more surface area but is it enough to make a big differance?
