Just went to get my car aligned, technician said I needed to separate the steering shaft from the rack to center the wheel, it's too far out of adjustment to just mess with the tie rods in order to center it. I had my engine out a couple weeks back, guess my buddy didn't re-align the rack properly.

I'm going to give this a shot myself, and I have the service manual. Just wondering if anybody had any hints, words of advice, problems to watch for, or any other pearls of wisdom from their own experiences, since I haven't dealt with any part of the steering as of yet so I'm rather in the dark. Thanks guys.

WATCH OUT FOR THE AIRBAG TO POP OUT!!!!!! LOL!

No, seriously though, I can't think of anything that you need to look for when doing this. It's a smash and grab job.

just take the steering wheel off and move it over a spline or two. it'll take you all of 5 minutes with 10mm (airbag) and 17mm (steering shaft) sockets.

Thanks guys, will give it a shot tomorrow.

Just a sidenote, I've gotten and seen nothing but prompt responses every time a thread is posted. Before it picked a small fight with a tree, I used to have an RSX and worked on my friend's Audi, and on both enthusiast forums, you couldn't find half as much intelligent information or quick responses that you do here. Guess it just attests to the dedication of DSMers.

Many here are on mental wards, and the internaweb is our only chance to pretend I'm ....er.... they're outside. :thumb:
