CEL when I let off the gas, goes away when I press it again

i have a 93 talon and I have a question, ever since i put the 2g mas in it comes on when you let off the gas, and goes away when you press it, do you guys have any suggestions as to what could cause this? the car idles and runs fine but sure enough you let off the gas the CEL comes on, soon as you barely touch it again it goes right back off. i think its a code 14(tps)
 
there is one wire that you dont wire up or youll get a cel. try double checking your wires. I think that code is for a map sensor though. Oh and if your sure its for a tps then change your tps. Find someone with a used one that works.
 
well i dont know what to do. anybody know how to check the mas?

Wire use according to the ECU wiring diagrams, 1G
1 - MAF reset
2 - Airflow sensor
3 - +12v power
4 - + 5V sensor power
5 - None
6 - Ground
7 - Barometric Pressure sensor
8 - Intake Air Temp sensor

1 - +5V sensor power
2 - Barometric pressure sensor
3 - Airflow sensor
4 - +12v power
5 - Ground
6 - Intake Air Temp sensor
7 - MAF reset
8 - None
 
Did you go to vfaq and check out the diagrams? What connector are you using? Is it the actual 2g connector or is it the tranisistor connector?
 
i assume its the 2g connector, its the mass i got from my friends 95 tsi. its throwing a code 14. (tps)
 
Hows your idle, I had the same problem and my TPS was bad. I got another one from a member on the board and my problem went away.

My idle was fine for awhile even when I was getting the CEL but it got worse later on.
 
Whats a CEL. Cause when i put my 2g mass into my 1g the car had a crappy idle and also i hit fuel cut

Sorry that last post was for PSI 2. If your car works normally when you put the 1G MAF back in I would assume that either your SAFC isn't working with the 2G MAF properly, your wiring is incorrect with the 2G MAF, or the 2G MAF is faulty. Just try and get a known good part to switch with your 2G MAF. If that fixes it then you have a faulty 2G MAF.

I'm glad to hear you got it fixed, I thought it would be something simple like that. I'll watch for that if I decide to go the 2G MAF route instead of a GM MAF and MAFT.
 
ok well it came back, i was checking for boost leaks and found one , it was leaking from the side of the tps so i took it off to silicone it, till i got some money for a rebuild kit. so i put it back together and tested it and it was leaking alot from the two small holes on the bottom side of the tps, if that makes any sence to you.

dont forget that i had to unhook the mas too, so i dont know if that did it. im sure its hood up good and wired right.

would air leaking from the tps through a code?
 
well i looked at the logger and the tps was at 2.3% so i adjusted it to 7.0% i it seams to work fine now, no code.

Awesome, sounds like you have good driveability diagnostic skills, which is really good to have when you own a DSM. Before I parked my Talon it had a little bit of an idle issue, when I started it it would idle around 2k RPM and SLOWLY come down, I didn't have any code's so I think that it was the ISC. I think that the O-ring for the BISS screw was toast too. I think that there is also something called a FIAV? I don't know for sure, but I believe it is supposed to be like a wax pellet that opens a valve to help on cold startup's and I think that may have gone bad. I can't remember for sure but I was doing some research back right before the turbo blew and that's what I thought it was. Soon enough I'll have my new 16G in there though and have to deal with the same fun problems you've been having. :talon:
