I have come to the fact that my CEL will never go off. However I recently moved to Arizona. I heard that there cannot be a CEL on when you go in for emissions. I was wondering if there was a way to wire a switch that would allow me to turn the CEL on/off without causing any problems to the actual ECU.

In theory it makes sense that I could open up my dash. Splice into the power wire for the CEL and run a switch for it. Could this work? TIA.

try disconnect the negative battery terminal for 30 seconds, plug back in and see if CEL comes back on, if not maybe it was a temporary conditon to make the light come on in the first place... this will clear the value stored in your ecu so maybe scan it first to get the code.
