Cas question.

Ok my question is do 1g dsm's come with crank angle sensors or not? People keep saying they do, Others say no. I need to know this to see if I can upgrade my cam sensor from my 90 4g63.

The CAS in the 1g is the crank/cam sensor. It's both in 1.

I would imagine so. Being that they're both 1st gens it would make sense, but you might want to get some more opinions. I am new the the DSM world and just got mine the other day, but I already tore the engine apart and according to what I have seen and the link that I send you... my 2 cents is a yes.

It won't work,the harness plug is different from 90, 91-94

Oh that's right. They switched from OBDI to OBDII and had different ECUs on those years.

well i changed out my old ecu to a 92. i also swapped the harness of a 92. if i swap the cas it should a work fine right?

Oh that's right. They switched from OBDI to OBDII and had different ECUs on those years.

All 1g's are obd1. 1990's just have different coils, ptu, throttlebody sensors, and cas plug. The 1990 ecu's have a hardware difference with pins 6 and 14 being switched. The 1990 tach also works off of a different signal than 91-94 because of the different coil and ptu wiring. The e931 image will work in all 90-94 1g's because the only differences are hardware.

Is it possible for 1g's or 2g's to run without a CAS? And without any problems?

No, it has to have the CAS. It is what the engine uses to tell what position is in so it can set the timing and fuel injection.
