Hi I have a 90 eclipse gsx motor that I just finished putting in my 1993 gst and I was wondering if I had to buy a 91-94 CAS or can I hardwire the 90 CAS into the 93 harness and if so how would I go about wiring it up please help me out Thanks guys

Best way is keep it as stock as possable the less wires you have to cut and splice the better off you are. Find a 91>4 CAS and trottle body and plug&play

As the oll saying goes, Keep It Simple and you can add the last word.

I just did the same swap. I swapped an engine from a 90 eclipse into my 93 tsi - The coil pack plug and the little black box beside it are also different.

I noticed that too how do i fix that ? what else do i need to do is there anything i need to hardwire in order for it to work ?

What you are trying to say is the 93 showded up sans engine?

Short version, use all your 93 sensors, throttle body, fuel rail and so on. Throw out (or resell) the '90 stuff. The 93 wiring is MUCH better, as is the hall effect CAS (instead of the sh***y steamdeath-hypersensitive optical sensor on 90-91s).

The 'little black box' you're referring to (on the driver's side, bolted to the intake manifold, right near the coilpack) is the power transistor. On the '90, there is a seperate tacho interface on the coilpack, 91+ integrated it into the power transistor for simplicity. Many '90 owners will upgrade and hack their harness to run on 91+ gear (preferably 93-94) as it can solve a LOT of problems with the older style gear... one of the easiest idle stumbling/high RPM breakup fixes for a '90 is to make an adapter cable and toss the '90 greentop CAS, and bolt on a '93-94 black-top Hall CAS.

So reuse your '93 parts all the way up to the intake manifold (bolts right up to the '90 head), take off and toss the '90 fuel rail and bolt up your '93 (it's shorter to allow the different throttle body design clearance), resell the '90 CAS and bolt up your '93 black-top CAS to the head, plug it in as normal. Remove and toss the '90 coilpack and power transistor, and use your '93 models. ANYTHING that plugs into the harness should be taken from the '93. You should have to cut/hardwire ZERO wires to get it running, and running BETTER than with the '90 gear.

Thanks for the info unfortunately i got rid of all the 93 parts so im going to have to find different ones somewhere if you know anyone that can help me out pm me Thanks again

Unfortunately, buying/selling on the forums is limited to the Classifieds, or vendors. You might try contacting the guys at Mitsubishi Graveyard though, explain the situation, and see what they can do on a bundle deal.

I have to be curious... why on earth would you throw it all out? Hell, the '93-94 black-top CAS are somewhat difficut to find (and expensive), even if they ARE worth it.

Here's hoping you haven't chopped the harness up yet. At that point, you'll just need the '93 throttle body, ISC, rail, CAS, power transistor, coilpack, and other odds and ends. Pretty sure the only thing that HAS to be 93-94 on the list is the CAS though... I believe that the other 91-94 parts you'll need are pretty much the same across the years.

Olmy, it is NOT a straight plug and play. He would have to cut off the connector and hard-wire the 90 CAS to his harness, which is obviously not an optimal solution. If it was a '91 CAS, he could do just that, plugs right in. But if he has to get a new CAS anyway, he may as well grab a 93-94 Hall unit.

I read that wrong. I thought he had a 90. Just use your 93 cas on that engine, the engine doesn't require a 90 cas to work.

Finding a DSM cas is EASY. Hell, everytime i go to a junkyard, i take all the 93-94 cas' i can find and sell them. Go to a junkyard or just post on your local dsm forum, cas' are a dime a dozen. Do not rewire your car for a 90 cas.
