So I have my new o ring and some rtv. My question is will just removing it(can angle sensor) and servicing the leak mess with the timing? I've read that you can change the timing with the cas somehow. Obviously i dont want to. I have the Haynes and it doesn't talk about just fixing a leak. Also, will any rtv be fine? Thanks guys.

Hello fellow CT DSMer! Basically, as long as you line it up the same way it shouldn't mess with your timing that much, but you should still probably invest in at least a cheaper timing light. They're very easy to use. Most RTVs should do the job, but I'd go with RTV Black, it's more oil resistant the the others; or Blue, it's sensor safe.
The timing is adjusted by loosening the bolts a little and rotating the CAS clockwise or counter clockwise.

Just replace the O ring with the NEW ONE. Then No more leak shouldn't need to do anything else... .

As far as the Cas There is a notch on the Cas to line it up can't miss it. If you turn the motor over to TDC when you take the Cas out it should be lined up with those notches. Just put it back on like that. It't a good Idea to properly set your base timing though after doing something like that.

I love tearing up these ct roads:). Thanks for the replies guys. I have blue rtv and that's the o ring I ordered. Torque spec I found online is 7 ftlbs, that sound right? Don't have a timing light yet but if I don't change anything I'm thinkin ill be fine.

Im having a similar problem,I replaced my cas oring 2 times and still leaks some. Ive herd of rtv being used like you said and was wondering if it worked for you because im out of options now tried 2 new o rings and still a slight leak hmm.

As MY1G has said do not use RTV on the oring and put the motor at TDC before removing the Cas and rest base timing after. To those who have a leak after replacing the oring, if you got the correct oring and its still leaking, you may need to pop the valve cover, take off the cam cap near the cas and clean the surfaces and put a light coat of rtv on the feet of the cam cap, reinstall it and you should be leak free after.
