Carbon fiber pop up headlight covers ARE COMING!!!!

Yep, today Frank and I started working on the master plugs for the 1 gen pop up headlights. Frank wasn't even going to make them cause the group buy was never organized in the past and not enought people could get the money up. Frank won;t do anythin unless $$$ is present!
Anyhow, after enough coercing I talked him into doing it without needing a bunch of people to commit. It will probally be about 3-4 weeks but the work has already begun.
These will be 2 layers of carbon fiber and will fit over your existing metal headlight cover. You can use contact cement, epoxy glue or 3M double sided tape. He already said that pricing will be $125-150 for a set of 2. Kevlar would be slightly more. Once the actuall part is made we will know the pricing exact.
So hopefully this makes some folks happy that have been wanting these for awhile. You can bet I will post pics when they finished.

Now if I could only find a 1g CF hood that was vented, i could put one of those Road Race vents on, but i would worry about cracking the CF

I doubt it would crack or spider. Carbon fiber cuts exactly like fiberglass so a fine tooth blade or such will cut it fine...just block sand the edges afterwards. I will usually use tape covering the section or area I want to cut and draw the cut lines on the tape. Kinda
helps a bit . As for vents, I have seen a few use the RR vents and they look really good IMO.

You annoy me by going into every thread about carbon fiber anything and spilling your hate beans all over the floor. If you don't like it, it isn't going to stop us from buying it.

And Leo, I am sure they will kick ass because all of your products do. Not to steal the thread or anything, but I know you make carbon door sils (they kind of hold the carpet on?) for the 1G, do you make them for the 2G as well?

Every carbon thread you go into it's always "those would look kickass painted" or something like that. What's the point? No one wants to spend all that money on carbon fiber and not show it off... and their have been other threads with the "why does everything have to be carbon blah blah" that gets old

You always say carbon things would look sweet painted to match the car. I understand the point of using carbon is to get the structural strength, and the lightweight. ALthough, 1/2 the fun of carbon is seeing the weave pattern, instead of having it match the car.

I'm not bashing your style, you like the sleeper look; some people prefer to stand out a little and have ordinary people (as in people who aren't tuners, people who do other things besides cars) be able to see modifications to thier cars. I'm one of these people, boosted is one of these people, hell, this section of the board is filled with these people.

If you aren't into the 'non performance modifications' please do us all a favor and stay out. (supposed to be read in a nice, non-arrogant or non-hateful tone)

BTW.. these peices are purely aesthetic.



Can't wait to see them Leo, carbonwerks always has some of the coolest stuff.

Other than that I have no gain in this at all nor can take any credit other than lighting the flame under Frank's feet. Everyday I would pick the things up and say something about $$.
